To report a problem with California Digital Library collections or services, or licensed collections or services, follow the steps below.

1. Find out if the issue has already been reported to the CDL.
  • View published announcements: Search the CDLALERT-L archive.
  • Search the CDL Helpline database.
2. Isolate the issue and document your experience.

By isolating the extent of the problem and documenting your experience, you can help speed the correction of the problem by ensuring that the necessary technical information is reported to the appropriate parties.

3. Report a new problem.
  • To report a non-urgent problem, try the CDL Helpline web site. Learn how to use the CDL Helpline.
  • To report urgent or critical problems (such as the unavailability of major databases or web sites), call the CDL Helpline at (510) 987-0555 Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Learn about reporting problems after normal working hours.
4. Report missing content directly to the vendor.

Report missing content (articles missing from issues or entire issues that are missing) directly to the vendor using the link below:

  • Elsevier/ScienceDirect

Stay informed: Receive notifications of current problems by subscribing to CDLALERT-L.
